Kanjivaram sarees from Tamil Nadu are famous for their bright colours, wide contrast borders and rich zari work. A real Kanjivaram is pure silk and can cost many thousands. If you love the look but want something light, easy and budget-friendly for this festive and wedding season, a Kanjivaram-style art silk saree is a sweet option. All 7 picks below are ₹1,099 each with free shipping.
What does "Kanjivaram-style" mean?
When we say Kanjivaram-style, we mean the design is inspired by traditional Kanjivaram sarees. Here is what to look for:
- Contrast border and pallu: blue with rani pink, pink with green, mustard with green. The border colour is different from the body, and that is the signature look.
- Zari jacquard weaving: golden or copper-toned motifs woven into the fabric, especially on the border and pallu.
- Temple-inspired motifs: leaves, buttis, paisleys and geometric patterns.
- A rich, festive finish: the saree has a soft sheen that looks lovely under puja lights and in photos.
Kanjivaram-style vs pure Kanjivaram: be clear before you buy
Our sarees are art silk (man-made silk) jacquard, woven in Surat. They are not pure silk, they are not handloom, and they do not carry a Silk Mark. What you get is the Kanjivaram look at a much lower price, a lighter saree that is easier to carry for long functions, and simpler care at home. If you need a pure silk Kanjivaram for a bride or as an heirloom, please buy from a trusted silk weaver. For festivals, family functions, office celebrations and wedding-guest looks, art silk is a very practical choice.

Styling tips for a Kanjivaram-style saree
- Pick the blouse from the border: matching your blouse to the border or pallu colour (not the body) gives the classic South Indian look.
- Go for elbow-length sleeves: they look graceful with temple sarees. Add a little zari or piping on the sleeve edge if you are stitching a new blouse.
- Temple or antique gold jewellery: a choker or long haar, jhumkas and a few bangles are enough. A kamarbandh (waist belt) adds a lovely bridal-side touch.
- Hair: a neat bun or long plait with fresh gajra completes the look.
- Pleats: art silk holds pleats well. Pin the pleats and the pallu, and press them lightly with a cool iron before you drape.
Simple care at home
- Dry clean for the first wash, or hand wash gently in cold water with a mild liquid detergent. Do not soak for long or wring hard.
- Dry in the shade, away from direct sun, so the colours stay bright.
- Iron on low heat, or iron from the reverse side with a cotton cloth on top, especially over the zari.
- Store folded in a cotton or muslin cloth and refold every few months so the zari does not crease in the same place.
